L'Anse aux Meadows to Deer Lake
With our longest drive this day we were up and at it after breakfast at the B&B. We were backtracking to get to the Trans Canada highway to start heading across Newfoundland. We stopped at the Thrombolites in Flower Cove for a short hike and to see the Thrombolites. Weather was our normal bit foggy, cloudy with a bit of moisture falling now and then. Not too bad though! The walk to the Thrombolites was nice to do after sitting in the car for so long.
After the Thrombolites we stopped at a small service station/coffee stop on the highway, not sure which outport it was in, for washrooms and a coffee. Ended up they put a fresh pot of coffee on for us and we talked while it was making. Hard to understand the folks but we had fun! They poured the coffee while it was still brewing, ended up too strong to drink once we were in the car but it was a good time. Drive through Gros Morne was slow due to the road construction, will be nice once they are finished.
We stayed in a hotel in Deer Lake due to the B&B we booked getting a hold of me to change the room we had booked to one that wasn't suitable, I cancelled and just booked the hotel instead. We ate at the restaurant in the hotel, called Jungle Jims, was a typical fast food type of place and not worth talking about but it was close. The next morning we had a quick breakfast at a Tim Horton's after asking at the front desk where we could eat, they recommended MacDonalds which we didn't want even less than Timmy's. Then it was off to Twillingate.
